Energy Efficiency Division
Know your building's energy story.
A comprehensive energy audit reveals exactly where your home is losing money — and what to do about it.
A comprehensive energy audit is a systematic evaluation of your home's energy use — from the heating and cooling systems to insulation, air sealing, windows, and appliances. Our certified energy advisors use diagnostic tools including blower door tests and infrared imaging to identify exactly where your home is losing conditioned air and wasting energy dollars.
The result is a detailed report with prioritized recommendations — what to fix first, what it will cost, what it will save, and what programs may cover a portion of the expense.
Why It Matters
Lower utility bills: Most homes have 20–40% savings potential in energy waste. An audit identifies the highest-impact improvements first so you get maximum return on every dollar spent.
Improved comfort: Drafts, cold spots, uneven temperatures, and humidity problems are almost always energy problems in disguise. We find them and fix them.
Healthier indoor air quality: Proper air sealing combined with controlled ventilation reduces allergens, moisture, and pollutants entering your living space.
Increased property value: Energy performance scores increasingly affect home valuations. An audited and improved home is a more valuable home.
Program eligibility: Many improvements may be covered — partially or fully — through Michigan energy assistance programs. An audit is the first qualifying step.
Our Process
Intake Screening
We begin with a brief screening call to confirm eligibility, collect property details, and determine what programs you may qualify for before scheduling the audit.
On-Site Audit
A certified energy auditor visits your home and conducts a comprehensive assessment — blower door test, combustion safety evaluation, insulation check, and more.
Report & Recommendations
You receive a detailed, prioritized report outlining findings, projected savings, estimated improvement costs, and available incentives or rebates.
Upgrade Coordination
We connect you with qualified contractors, facilitate paperwork for any applicable programs, and verify completed work meets program requirements.
Assistance Programs
Michigan homeowners in qualifying areas may be eligible for the Michigan Home Energy Retrofit (MiHER) program, which can cover a significant portion of energy improvement costs — including insulation, air sealing, HVAC upgrades, and more. We are registered MiHER advisors and handle the full documentation and submission process on your behalf.
